In the following film, two survivors of acid attack violence, Noreen and Humaira, recount their journey toward self-empowerment against all odds while navigating social barriers, medical challenges, and a long quest for justice in Pakistan, where acid attacks are a brutal form of gender-based violence.

Filmed in Lahore and Islamabad during the summer of 2022, this documentary also spotlights Pakistan's efforts to combat acid-based violence by weaving together intimate narratives with insights from activists and medical and legal experts.

On Feb 15th, hijab-wearing girls were stopped from entering college in the Indian state of Karnataka. The issue of college dress code has turned into a Hindu-Muslim communal issue as the ban spread to other colleges and was backed by right-wing Hindutva supporters as well as the central government of the BJP party. 

In this podcast, we speak to Indian students in Education City about what this ban could mean for religious freedom and female empowerment in India.

About 1 in 87 children in Qatar experience Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In recent years, social perceptions regarding autism have evolved in Qatar, but a lot more needs to be done to increase opportunities for children with ASD. 

This video package, produced for a journalism class, includes interviews with medical practitioners, parents of children with ASD, and professionals running institutes for special needs education to give an overview of what's lacking in Qatar for children with ASD. 

On August 15, 2021, Kabul fell and the Taliban took over the reins of the government after a 20-year-war. More than 120,000 people had to be airlifted out of Kabul airport. Among them were Najia and her family who are currently living in Doha, Qatar.
